Redirection Manager in Rank Math

When you get 404 page not found error then you need to fix those broken links. This can be done in two ways.

  1. Make the broken links live again if possible
  2. Redirect broken links to a new link

So, for redirecting a broken link to a new live link you can use Redirection Manager of Rank Math.

Just navigate to Rank Math -> Redirections- > Add New to add a new redirection.

These redirection types are supported in Rank Math –

  1. 301 Permanent move
  2. 302 Temporary move
  3. 303 Temporary redirect

Maintenance Types Supported

  1. 410 Content deleted
  2. 451 Content Unavailable for Legal Reasons

One thing I like the most is they have a advance feature in redirection. By using that you can go for exact match, contains, starts with, end with or regex scenarios for a particular link.

Google Search Console Integration in Rank Math

I am liking this Rank Math Google Search Console Integration too much. This is something I was looking for in previous SEO Plugins.

Sometimes, it happens that you wants to check your average keyword positions. So, for that you need to login to your search console. No need to do this.

Rank Math has made this easier for us. Now you can track most of the search console data from your WordPress dashboard only.

To use this feature navigate to Rank Math -> Search Console. if you are doing it for the very first time then you have to provide access to the Rank Math Plugin to access your Google search console data.

You can check overview and Search analytics also here including clicks, impressions, CTR and Position.

Adding an HTML verification code in WordPress Website Header or Footer – Do you know how to add AdSense verification code in a WordPress Website? In the same way whenever you have to add any type of verification or other HTML and JavaScript code on your WordPress header or footer then you can use plugins like “insert headers and footers” and “ad inserter”.

Why a 404 page not found error occurs on a Website?

Have you ever thought what will happen when you share your blog link to somebody with a spelling mistake? Which page will open when they open the shared link.? What if you visitor search something on your site which is not there? What pages will you show them at the moment?

So, we can take this in a scenario

Scenario 1 – Visitor looks for page on your website which is not there

They will get 404 Page Not found Error Page

Scenario 2 – When a user tries to open a broken link of yours

The user will get 404 Page Not found Error Page

Scenario 3 – When somebody tries to open a incorrect URL

They will get 404 Page Not found Error Page

Scenario 4 – When somebody search a wrong product on your website

Sorry, but nothing matched your search terms. Please try again with some different keywords.

Looking at the above scenario you can imagine how cringeworthy it would feel when they found an empty page with ‘404 page not found’ tag. This doesn’t left a good impression of yours.

This is the prime reason for writing this post. I hate “the page you are looking is not existed” like errors. This will help you to create and set up a custom 404 Error page for your website.

How to create a Custom 404 Error Page on your website?

There are some simple steps which you need to follow to set up a custom 404 error page. Let’s have a look at that.

1. Create a custom 404 page

This is the first thing you need to do if you want to set up a custom 404 page for your website or blog. You have a create a page which you want to use for 404 error page. For this, you can use page builders like beaver builder or Elementor.

If you know Html, CSS or PHP very well then you can develop a custom 404 error page by itself.

If you are looking for somebody to develop a custom 404 page for yourself then you can contact me at admin@okeyravi.com

Let’s suppose you have created a custom error page named page-not-found.html. I will use this page later in this article.

2. Look for .htaccess file in your root directory

You can easily find a .htaccess file in your root directory. A root directory is normally a public.html folder inside File Manage in cPanel.

So, to access your root directory. Follow these simple steps –

  1. Open cPanel (https:domainname.com/cpanel)
  2. Login to Cpanel
  3. Navigate to File Manager
  4. Open the public.html folder in case of single website hosting or open the relevant folder in case of multi-site hosting.
  5. Look for the .htaccess file
  6. If you can’t find the .htaccess file. You need to turn on the hidden files option. To enable it, follow the steps given below.
  7. If there are no .htaccesss then create a file in the root directory and name it as .htaccess.
.htaccess file inside File manager in cpanel
.htaccess file inside File manager in cPanel

Turning on hidden files settings in cPanel

Sometimes it will happen that the .htaccess files will not appear in your root directory. In this case you need to turn on hidden files settings in cPanel. To turn it on follow the steps provided below.

  1. Login to your website cPanel
  2. Navigate to File Manager
  3. You can easily find a settings icon on the top right corner. Click on that
  4. Now find the Show Hidden Files (dotfiles) option and check it
  5. Click on Save button
  6. Now you can easily find the .htaccess file inside your root directory
Enable hidden files option in Cpanel
Enable hidden files option in cPanel

3. Finally Editing the .htaccess file to setup the custom 404 page

This is the final step. After performing this you can take a power nap. As you would have performed an important task which is beneficial for your website in many aspects. I will try to describe it later.

So, now to finish the custom 404 error page set up, edit your website .htaccess file and write the codes given below at the last.

ErrorDocument 404 /page-not-found.html

Here /page-not-found.html is the full path to the new custom 404 page that you’ve created in step 1.

With this line, we’re sending guidelines to the server that in case of 404 error scenario, return this file to the browser.

You are done with the settings here.

4. Test your custom 404 page set up

To test it try to look for a page that does not exist on your website. You should get your custom 404 page that you denoted in the .htaccess file.

Or, simply search for an incorrect URL of your website. This should return the custom 404 page created by you. If it doesn’t then double check the path at .htaccess file.

Benefits of creating a custom 404 page

benefits of a custom 404 page depends on person to person. yet, i am defining some of them to open your mind about this.

  1. You can increase your pageviews just by adding some good post links on custom 404 error page
  2. You can increase the number of sales by adding some product on your newly created custom 404 page
  3. Even you can use custom 404 pages as a lead generation page
  4. You can use this page a vote page to know more about your visitor’s interest
  5. Promote your videos and products through this page
  6. A custom 404 error page will help you to reduce bounce rate and increase website engagements which is beneficial for website SEO and SERPs ranking.

What you shouldn’t do with 404 pages?

  • Never redirect 404 errors to your home page. That‚Äôs confusing to your visitors. They have clicked a link thinking they‚Äôd get to their relevant content and you are sending them to irrelevant content with no explanation.
  • Redirect 404 errors to another web site. Augh! Why do people even think? Is that’s OK?!
  • Never send 404 errors to a Flash page.
  • Send 404 errors to a page with a registration form that has 25 fields. I‚Äôm not making this up‚ĶLol, What do you think people are a fool out there?

The story and the flow of your website will not be completed if you lead your website visitor to a dead end like 404. There are so many creative examples for you to get inspired from.

So, create a simple and interesting custom 404 page for your website and enjoy it s benefits. as, having a great custom 404 error page means keeping more visitors on your site, and selling more stuff, getting more leads, etc..

Why is it essential to avoid keyword stuffing in 2019?

I am dealing with keyword stuffing in this article. Keywords add value to written content and make it easy for users to visit your website. Have you ever thought about how does this mechanism work? Consider that you need your website to be listed against the keyword ‚ÄúFree Blogging Course Online‚ÄĚ.

This means that when users type this phrase in the Google search box, your website should be displayed on the screen. If you have not included this phrase in the content, your website would not appear among the list of results and people would not be able to visit it.

Now, here you need to understand that keyword stuffing is not the same as inserting keywords properly. It’s always valuable for you to check keyword density every time you post content on your site. It is an important part of SEO. Your keyword density should always be in between 1 to 3 percent for better SEO. You can get help from Prepostseo to effectively evaluate your keyword density of the content.

Keyword research and keyword stuffing

Gauging the difference between keyword stuffing and insertion

As it is mentioned above, there is a lot of difference between keyword stuffing and insertion. Keyword stuffing was taken as a positive aspect in the early SEO days. At that time, websites attained traffic on the basis of the keywords they had. Websites that had a greater count of keywords attained better SEO ranks.

However, this is not the case at the moment. Today, quality content is necessary for a website to capture high ranks. Keywords have to be used but only when the need is there. Today, keyword stuffing is taken as a negative act and reputed websites avoid it. It’s a part of blackhat SEO now.

Here are some main reasons why keyword stuffing is a big NO.

The web content loses readability

How do people decide whether a website is preferable for them or not? To start with, they check the reputation of the website. A simple fact is that websites need to publish quality readable content to be ranked highly.

You can only come up with quality content if the correct keywords have been used with the right density. The keyword density depends on the word count written. For instance, the keyword density of a 500-word blog would not be the same as the one which has a content length of 1000 words. You can use the Yoast SEO plugin to analyze the density of your Blog keywords.

When you are inserting keywords in a legitimate manner, the flow of written content does not get spoilt. In other words, readers are attracted towards the content as it generates a positive image. This does not happen if keywords have been stuffed and used even when the need is not there.

For example, consider the text segment below.

‚ÄúThe best red pillows can be brought from the Ken Store which sells red pillows at economical rates. You cannot find such quality red pillows and no other brand sells red pillows at such economical prices.‚ÄĚ

If you have a close watch at the text segment written above, it is quite obvious that the keyword ‚Äúred pillows‚ÄĚ has been used too much. This is spoiling the overall impression of the written content. This is exactly what keyword stuffing does. It results in the reader losing interest on an immediate scale.

Keyword stuffing reduces SEO position

It is a known fact that websites which are ranked on the first page of Google results get more traffic and conversions than the ones which have lower ranks.

Do you know why some websites are able to get better ranks than the others? There are various factors which come into play. First of all, the quality of written content is a decisive parameter.

The provision of quality content is an integral step for generating healthy conversion rates. Let us go through a proper example to grab more understanding. All of us buy things online and we visit several websites for this purpose.

We select a website which impresses us most in terms of content. It is obvious that we would like to gather as much information about a product as possible before we take the decision of buying it.  At times, companies lose sales even if they have the best products because the content is not appealing enough. Thus, paying attention to content is important.

Keyword stuffing is a clear sign that the brand has not executed a proper keyword planning process. Brands that execute a keyword planning procedure do stuff keywords. Reputed brands do use keywords with the correct density so that these targeted phrases gel with the remaining part of the content. Brand owners have to be sure that they have extracted the correct keywords and they have been used with the correct ratio.

Be ready for Google penalties

The eventual goal of every website is to score a high rank according to Google standards. It is obvious that this is not possible if you are violating any of the conditions. Google gives immense importance to content quality. Websites which present low standard content are heavily penalized. In addition to that, they are unable to book a top SEO slot.

In accordance with the policies of Google, keyword stuffing is a negative act and websites which use it fail to make it to the first page.  You need to be sure that the written content has to be natural and readers should be convinced about reading each line.

If keywords have been used in an unnatural manner, it would be hard for users to retain interest and go through each line with concentration. Lastly, keyword stuffing is a clear violation of Google standards so it should be avoided.

Summing It Up

If you are a website owner, you should have a clear awareness of keyword stuffing and how it can damage the reputation of your website. To start with, you should know about the keyword density that suits your content. This would depend on the length of written content.

Make the use of keywords natural and the users should not feel that they are being used without a proper requirement.

Keyword stuffing is not counted as a positive SEO technique. Even if your website gets traffic due to keyword stuffing, serious buyers would not be convinced in any manner. This is because, in terms of content quality, the expectations of the users would not be met.

The natural use of correct keywords helps a website in getting a high rank. For this purpose, it is always recommended to use a proper keyword planning tool like Google Keyword Planner.

If you have any query or suggestion feel free to comment down. I would love to answer them.

How to install a large theme on WordPress using cPanel?

Do you have any idea about how can you install a large theme on WordPress? When you install a big size theme on WordPress, you might face errors like “inactivity timeout”, “not able to upload theme file” or might be some PHP initialization error.

So, the question comes now. If the normal way of uploading and activating themes and plugins are not working then what are the other ways? The easiest and fastest way to install a large theme and plugin in WordPress is uploading that file in the file manager. You can take help from the cPanel file manager to upload those files in relevant directories.

The other solution is the FTP (File Transfer Protocol). You can use Filezilla for this. I will describe it later in another article.

Let’s see this step by step.

Installing a large theme in WordPress using cPanel File Manager

Many of the hosting providers made a limitations on how bigger theme and plugins can be uploaded. They generally reduce the php memory limit. If you want to install a large theme then you need to talk them for increasing the php memory limit.

The fastest way to install and activate large plugins and themes is to use cPanel and let the server unzip the theme and plugins locally in their respective directories. Some themes and plugins can have several numbers of files to upload and using FTP is deadly slow in this case. Like I have seen in the case of Porto Woocommerce Theme.

Follow these steps to complete the upload and activation –

1.Log-in to your cPanel account ( Generally it is domain name followed by cPanel like https://okeyravi.com/cpanel). Just replace my domain name with your domain name. It is not applicable in case of WordPress Hosting.

2. Navigate to File Manager -> Public.html

3. Open Public.html folder. In the case of multi-website hosting, you can find your website root access by searching for the domain name.

4. Browse to your WordPress theme folder /wp-content/themes/

theme folder in cPanel
Upload and extract them in themes folder

5. Upload your theme zip file. This usually has a much larger file size limit.

6. Once the zip file is uploaded in the file manager. Select and right click on the file to extract it.

7. Once extracted, delete the zip file you uploaded.

8. Now open your WordPress dashboard (Generally domain name followed by wp-admin or login. like this – https://okeyravi.com/login or https://okeyravi.com/wp-admin/

9. Navigate to Appearance ->Themes

Theme section in WordPress

10. Your uploaded theme will be there and it is ready for activation. So, what are you waiting for? just activate it, LOL.

Adjust php.ini limits to overcome this error

If you are not able to upload and install large theme files in your WordPress then this is not a big error. You can either use the above method or just adjust Php.ini limits (Also called Php memory limits or execution limits). .

You can ask your hosting provider to fix this for you. They will adjust your php.ini limits. In my case, it is GoDaddy and InterServer.

If you decide to adjust the php.ini file do not forget to reset Apache after making the change.

Some possible php.ini settings

  • max_execution_time 600
  • memory_limit 20M
  • post_max_size 20M
  • upload_max_filesize 20M

I hope now you have understood how a large theme file can be easily be installed on WordPress. If you have any query or concern then you can comment below.

Have a good day!

Top 19 Best Plagiarism Checkers 2019 for Bloggers | Updated List

Are you looking for the best plagiarism checkers? I have shared a list of top 19 best plagiarism checker tools and websites in this article. People do always ask me about how can they check the copyright material on their website? As it is the biggest intervention in Adsense approval now for bloggers.

“Valuable Inventory: Under Construction”, Valuable Inventory: No Content” and the most important “Valuable inventory: Scraped Content” are the primary AdSense policy violation which new bloggers suffer.

Plagiarism checking is the way to get rid of copyright

While writing a post or while creating a page, grammatical and spelling mistakes can easily be resolved by Grammarly. But plagiarism is a bit tricky to tackle.

I am not going to discuss where have you copied and pasted things in your life. I will talk in the context of blogging here. While you were in school, you might have copied assignments and notes. Notes copy is okay but assignments copy is not okay for your teacher. As you know, assignments are for evaluation.

Being a blogger we also face a lot of copyright issues in the entire blogging period. Some false and some right claims. So, to be aware of those copyrighted claims and materials, you need to take help from best plagiarism checker tools.

Before going for the top 19 best plagiarism checkers list, let’s have a look at what is plagiarism and its types. I have also added some FAQs on Plagiarism at the end of the article.

What is Plagiarism?

In general, Plagiarism is “stealing someone’s work and ideas by any means and trying to act as one’s own”. It can also be termed as infringement of copyright, cribbing, copying or poaching.

According to Wikipedia, Plagiarism is the “wrongful appropriation” and “stealing and publication” of another author’s “language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions” and the representation of them as one’s own original work.

According to them “Plagiarism is considered academic dishonesty and a breach of journalistic ethics”.

These days Plagiarism is a headache for the academics. Students are loosing their marks, they are rusticated from the college and universities, they are loosing their project and even we have seen some punishment cases also.

I am giving you some good examples of Plagiarism which will help you to understand it appropriately.

Some Common Examples of Plagiarism

There is a dozen of examples which will illustrate the plagiarism. I am discussing some common of them here.

  1. Using other’s images, videos, contents without taking explicit permission of the owner. It is a punishable example of plagiarism.
  2. Without giving credit to the actual owner copying and publishing someone else data.
  3. Data copied from websites, books, and other sources.
  4. Even if you steal someone else idea and verbal conversations and if you present them as your own it will be counted under plagiarism.

In blogging, novice bloggers to get AdSense in fast and for some other reasons copy contents from good websites. I am not liking it. Google is also not giving AdSense approval on those websites having the copied contents.

You have to produce your original content if you really want to rank on top and to increase organic traffic. You should know content is the king.

Types of Plagiarism

Commonly, plagiarism are divided into 4 types. Here is the details.

  1. Direct Plagiarism – Copying word by word without giving credit to the actual owners.
  2. Mosaic Plagiarism РIf you quote someone else’s work without quotation mark or changing the language (like English to Hindi using google translator) while keeping the structure same then this will come under Mosaic Plagiarism.
  3. Unintentional or Self Plagiarism – It is very common. It says if you copy your own content for own use. I have seen people writing the same article again and again for same keyword synonyms. This is absolutely rubbish.
  4. Accidental Plagiarism – If citing of originality is not done unintentionally or forgotten.

There are some other types of plagiarism alos. You can read more about type of plagiarism here.

Plagiarism Management FAQ’s

1. How to write Plagiarism free content?

The best way to avoid plagiarism is to write self content. Before writing do a proper keyword research. Once a keyword is decided then look for good resources. it can be a website book or words by mouth. Get idea from all around and then write that in your own words.

If you are using someone else’s ideas or content cite them properly to prevent plagiarism.

2. Do the contents copied from Wikipedia counted under Plagiarism?

No, you can copy content from Wikipedia to use it in your blog.
Wikipedia contents are licensed under Copyleft ( CC-BY-SA & GNU Free Documentation License or GFDL) it indicates that you can reuse, modify as long as you attribute the source.

But don’t forget to give credit to Wikipedia.

Note: If you copy contents from Wikipedia to fill your blog posts. It will look good but It will not rank on Google and on other search engines. Google doesn’t prefer ranking copied contents. Google always strives for originality, freshness, and uniqueness.

It is also not good for your website SEO. For good SEO you should focus on originality of contents.

4. Is plagiarism same as Copyright Infringement?

Yes, to an extent plagiarism leads to copyright infringement later. But in general, Copyright infringement leads to more legal procedures and taken as a criminal offense.

If you get a copyright claim on your website or blog post then Google will remove your contents from the search result. They will also restrict the Adsense ad serving on those posts, pages, and website. in some cases, I have also seen the Adsense disablement.

If you are a Youtuber then three copyright strike will lead to termination of your channel. So, be aware of the consequences.

Copying anything like videos, text, images, logo, trademark, name may lead to copyright and it’s legal procedures.

5. I have found some plagiarised content on my website. What should I do now?

Just chill! It is not something for which you have to start running. Spend some time with your content and rewrite them in your own words. Once done then verify the plagiarimity from the any tools mentioned above.

6. Free plagiarism checker vs Paid Plagiarism Check which one is good to go?

I will say free is free and it will work like free. paid i spaid and it will work like paid. Nonsense talk. But it’s right. Same provider is providing free Plagiarism checker and paid plagiarism checker. Do you know why? because they want to make money of their services and tools and the most important thing is the limitation of features in free version.

Free plagiarism checker don’t have extraordinary features like the paid one’s. So paid one is always good. They might not worth their given price. but that is a totally a different aspect.

7. Do I file a DMCA takedown notice? If I found my content on other’s blog.

Here I can’t say anything. The content is yours. So, better you should decide what to do with them? before deciding anything you should keep the content severity and other important aspects into your mind.

You can use Google Copyright removal which is free and hassle free service.
It also gives you the liberty to file a lawsuit against copyright infringement.

WordPress Hosting vs Web Hosting | Top key differences

Today, I am going to discuss WordPress hosting vs web hosting. It can also be termed as WordPress hosting vs shared hosting. When we create a WordPress website, the important thing that strikes into our mind is which hosting plan you should take? WordPress managed hosting, web hosting, dedicated servers, cloud hosting or business hosting. We will see all the key differences between them. It will help you to decide which is better.

This post is basically for beginner bloggers who are not looking into the cloud or dedicated servers. The main reason is obviously the amount of money you need to spend on those hosting. A beginner blogger doesn’t have that much amount of money as I think. What do you think about this? Comment below.

So, basically the topic will revolve around WordPress managed hosting and web hosting. Web hosting is also called as shared hosting. Let’s have a look at the key differences between them.

WordPress Hosting vs Web Hosting – Key Differences

Hosting is a critical aspect of any online business. Without a proper hosting plan, things will not in favor of you. I have written a separate post on what are the things which you need to keep in mind while choosing a hosting plan.

Read recommendedHow to choose a best hosting plan?

Key features of managed WordPress hosting

To especially cater the WordPress website “Managed WordPress Hosting” is designed. So, you can say it is tailored for WordPress websites. This hosting has a lot of good features to look into. Have a look at it’s features.

Top 10 features of managed WordPress hosting

1.Incredibly fast – WordPress hosting is offering a very good optimized speed. The loading time of your website will be incredibly fast. This type of hosting will drop your page load time and average response time of your website in seconds. This matters a lot for Google and in terms of website SEO.

2. Much more secure – Increased website protocols and more individualized attention is provided to the users by most of the WordPress hosting providers. Regular security checks are performed.

3. 99.99 percent uptime – The uptime of a managed WordPress hosting is very high. On an average, the uptime is 99.5% which is good.

4. Up to date servers – They always ensure to run the server on the latest software. The main goal is to keep your website up to date as well.

5. More Customized – In a WordPress hosting most of the customization are already done. That’s why you don’t have cPanel access there. But, if you want to access cPanel in a managed WordPress hosting then you can use the WP File Manager Plugin.

6. Automatic Backup – Most of the Web Hosting providers provide automatic and scheduled backup for the website hosted on this hosting. GoDaddy provides through GoDaddy Dashboard. You can also do the same with ManageWP which is an alternative of Godaddy pro dashboard.

7. SEO monitor – I have seen this feature on GoDaddy, where you can manage your website SEO also. You can check with your hosting provider if you don’t have this feature. It might be paid or needs some additional charges with hosting.

8. One Click WordPress Install – WordPress installation is very easy in Managed WordPress. You can also “reset” your WordPress anytime by using the reset button. The reset button is available at hosting dashboard. It may be termed as ‘remove’.

9. One Click Restore¬†–¬†Like¬†taking¬†a¬†backup,¬†restoration¬†of¬†files¬†are¬†also¬†quite¬†easy.¬†Some¬†of¬†the¬†hosting¬†providers¬†provides option to keep 1 month backup. At Godaddy I have access to my last three months backup.

10. Dedicated Customer support – This is also a prime advantage of managed WordPress hosting. Dedicate support is there to help you 24×7.

Key Features of Web/Shared Hosting

There is a great advantage of web hosting if you are just started building your website and you are unsure about the success of it. Web hosting is a great option for you in this case. But if you are sure that you are going to get lakhs of traffic then you need to take dedicated servers, cloud/VPS hosting or business hosting, web hosting is not suitable for that.

As you might know in a web hosting a system is shared between different hundreds of allocated users. You are just a slice of it. It might be in thousands and you are totally unaware of the security measures of those websites.

In a web hosting, the resources on the server is divided between every website using the server. It means if a website on that server is experiencing a large amount of traffic then your website may slow down for that time due to lack of proper resource.

It is not tailored like managed WordPress hosting but It has a feature which a managed WordPress hosting doesn’t have. “The cPanel access”,¬†yes,¬†WordPress¬†hosting¬†doesn’t¬†has¬†CPanel.

This is a prime reason to use web hosting. It is not CMS dependent. You can run any type of website on a Shared or Web hosting. It can be a WordPress, PHP, html, Drupa, Joomla or any other CMS website.

Conclusion – Managed WordPress vs Web Hosting

If you ask my suggestions on which hosting should you use? Then I will suggest you to go with WordPress managed hosting if you are building a WordPress website.

If you are not sure about what type of website will you build then go for Shared Hosting. It is good for a starter and later if you see a hike in your website traffic then upgrade the plan or shift to dedicated or cloud servers.

Creating an account on GoDaddy

Now¬†it’s¬†time¬†to¬†be¬†a¬†GoDaddy¬†user.¬†For¬†that,¬†you¬†have¬†to¬†create¬†an¬†account¬†on¬†GoDaddy. Just click on “create account button” and follow the steps provided.

Follow these simple steps –

  4. Enter Support PIN – It can be any 4 digit number
  5. Click on Create Account button to complete the process

Fill up the billing details

Once you done with the account creation, the next step will be billing information filling. Fill the right information there.

You have to fill these details in GoDaddy billing –

entering Billing Information on Godaddy
Filing the billing info on GoDaddy
  1. First Name
  2. Last Name
  3. Phone no with country code
  4. Complete Address
  5. City
  6. State
  7. Company you are working in (optional) – Fill “Okey Ravi WEB Services”, if you want to fill.
  8. GST (Optional) -Specific to Inida

Once filled, click on “Save Button” to go to the payment step.

Select a payment medium and complete the payment

After filling and saving the billing details the next step is to choose a suitable payment medium. Indians mostly preferred a debit card, Net banking or wallet system like Paytm or UPI. But, if you have a credit card then you can use that also.

Payment options available on GoDaddy - Paytm, also available

The one think I like about GoDaddy is they provide all payment mediums. Most of the hosting and domain providers like BlueHost, InterServer, Namecheap and HostGator they don’t have all payment mediums available.

Once a payment medium is decided then click on “Complete Purchase” button to fill up the payment details and OTP verification. After the payment completion you will get a receipt on your registered mail.

Verify your registered email

After the purchase of domain and hosting, you will get a mail to verify your GoDaddy account. So, just verify your GoDaddy account. Now the next process is WordPress installation on your purchased domain.

Without WordPress Installation the website creation process will GoDaddy will remain untouched.

Installing WordPress on purchased domain

The next most important step to create a WordPress Website with GoDaddy is WordPress installation. I will describe it in two steps. One for WordPress Hosting without cPanel and other will be for Web Hosting with cPanel‘.

Let’s see them one by one.

WordPress installation on WordPress hosting

If you have purchased a ‘Basic Managed WordPress Hosting’ then WordPress installation is bit easier. Follow the steps –

  1. Go to ‘My Products’
  2. Navigate to the hosting you have purchased
  3. Click on Setup/Manage
  4. Choose a WordPress username and password
  5. Choose a datacenter, go with the recommended option
  6. Wait for the completion of process

Once completed you can access your WP dashboard at http://domainname.com/wp-admin or http://domainname.com/login.

Use your WP username and password to login. If you get a Setup Wizard in between then you can either complete it or skip it for later. Every details will be changed later using WP admin section.

I hope you have logged in to your WordPress now. So, now the question is what do you do next? Here is something for you which you can perform now.

  1. Have a look at Gutenberg Editor and it’s features
  2. You can change your theme. If you want to install a premium theme then this is the right time to do it.
  3. Install WordPress recommended plugins according to your requirements
  4. Start customizing your website
  5. Write your first post and learn SEO
  6. Optimize your website for SEO

WordPress installation on Web hosting

All the steps mentioned above is also applicable in web hosting. But, the only thing it differs from above is, here WordPress installation can be performed using cPanel. I have made a separate post on this. You can follow either of the methods.

What more you need to know?

See, I usually recommend WordPress managed hosting if you want to create a WordPress website¬†with¬†GoDaddy. There is a lot of benefits of using this hosting. The main benefit is the free access of GoDaddy Pro Dashboard. With the help of GoDaddy Pro Dashboard which is the same as ManageWP, you can do a lot of things. I have made a list of them. Have a look –

  1. You can take daily backup, weekly or scheduled backup
  2. Restore backup anytime
  3. The last 2 month backup will be stored. So, two months rollback is possible, which is amazing.
  4. You can monitor your website SEO and keywords ranking
  5. Monitor your website uptime
  6. Easily optimize your post revisions and spam comments
  7. Safe update WordPress themes and plugins is available
  8. You can monitor your website traffic using Google Analytics linking

I hope now you have created your website using GoDaddy. Hosting choice is totally up to you. But, my recommendation for you will be GoDaddy managed WordPress plan. You can take Linux hosting also if you want to create a WordPress or any other kind of website.

The one thing I have skipped is SSL installation which you can do later. SSL installation is not required at the time of website creation. This can be done later. But make sure you install an SSL before submitting your site to Google or other webmasters.

1. Remove all the unused theme from your database:

Why you have kept the unused theme in your WP database? That’s doesn’t make any sense. Keeping those unused themes which occupy your storage is not a good idea unless you have infinite space. So, better you delete them and free up space for useful content.

This is the problem that most newbie bloggers face. In search of a best WordPress theme they just continue to install the different themes and at the end, they left it as it is. This is not good, once you have found your choice then you must remove all those unused themes from your database.

Filling up your database with all the garbage is not good. It may lower your website speed. And these days, the importance of loading speed can’t be ignored. It is one of the ranking factors for your website.
